The
Venezuelan journalist, Vladimir Villegas, repudiated comments made Thursday by
the Minister of Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, about the
attendance of presidential candidate Henri Falcón on his program, Vladimir a la
1 (Vladimir at 1), broadcasted by Globovisión, claiming that he was the only
one being interviewed in that segment.
"If you have any
questions or some kind of evidence of anything that appears weird to you, you
can share it," Villegas said to the minister.
Along that line,
Villegas pointed out that the president and candidate for re-election, Nicolás
Maduro, had not been on his program, Vladimir at 1, despite having been invited
on many occasions: "I could ask, for example, why President Maduro has not
wanted to come on my show, we have requested it of him several times."
"Jorge, you know
very well that I have written to you, personally asking you that you coordinate
this interview with President Maduro, who is invited on the program as many
times as he wants, on Vladimir at 1, or any other spot on Globovisión," he
declared.
In the end, Villegas
mentioned that the National Electoral Council should execute an
"absolutely impartial" audit on the practices of public media during
the political campaign.
These were the
statements from the Minister of Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez.
