The workers from the Metro of Caracas send their grievances to various media outlets and sustain an awareness campaign about the deplorable situation at the Metro and the instability of its workers, who are subject to countless violations of their labor rights. Below is an open letter released by a group of those workers in protest, organized by the group Dignidad Obrera (Worker's Dignity).

Metro of Caracas: Corruption and Betrayal of the Working Class (Part II)

We would like to dedicate this letter of grievance to three acts of corruption and betrayal of the working class, as each day that passes - even every half-day that passes - some other act of this type is revealed. Today, we want to point out, with this protest, these three cases, one recent and already under investigation by the CICPC (Scientific, Penal, & Criminal Investigation Corps), and the other two, no less important, but even more grotesque and unjust.

1. It has to do with the detention of "citizens" Milco Pérez and Jorge Moreno, both ex-managers of the public transportation corporation, Metro of Caracas. Today they act as mechanical maintenance specialists, two pariahs who have been committing misappropriation in using the property of Metro of Caracas, this by allowing the unfounded and opportunistic use of a unit of public transport (minibus model, poorly named "Perrera"), belonging to workshop floors of Metrobus La Paz. A unit used continuously on a special route to and from Parroquia El Junquito, in the city of Caracas. So then, these two individuals allowed the use, with the assent of Edison Alvarado, president of the corporation's union, for the transport of customers on the central seaboard, in the coastal area, located to the north of the City of Caracas, charging overpriced tickets with neither the authorization nor any type of arrangement on the part of the Corporation of Metro of Caracas. It is important to point out that both criminals are minions of the current executive board of said corporation's union. Today, both traitors to the working class find themselves detained for investigation; their guilt is more than obvious, as before the eyes of the workers of Metro of Caracas they're guilty. We demand justice! No more impunity!

2. Second case: comes with the sale of fish in the Socialist Fish Market, a benefits program aimed at the most vulnerable groups of workers and which is defenseless before the brutal economic crisis that has affected the entire population. Once again, those from the union of Metro of Caracas, those who today are the "leaders" of SITRAMECA (the Union of Workers of the Metro of Caracas), stepped all over the workers by unlawfully coming out of nowhere to disrupt the worker and pensioner-established order of arrival, planted from the very wee hours of the morning (4:00 AM) in order to obtain this prized food and not lose this singular opportunity. Lo and behold, the executives of SITRAMECA - together with their minions - acquired the "best products" from the sea, disrespecting the order of the line and in total condescension and indifference acquired the best products, leaving only sardines for the rest of the workers and pensioners; another inhumane and anti-revolutionary practice, showing that the crisis brings a lot with it, to hide the food crisis.

3. The third case - no less important - is known by all of the workers of Metro of Caracas: the extraction of currency reserves by those who run the Worker's PDVAL (Venezuelan Food Producers and Distributors), for the black market (bachaquera, or boot-legger). Very much in spite of having access to the so-called point of sale, they charge cash to more than 10,000 (ten thousand) workers for CLAP boxes (Local Committees of Supply and Production) and PDVAL. Recently, the current government created an operation, lead by the anti-corruption police, called "Paper Hands;" they caught ,in flagrante, a few wrongdoers involved in this "unpatriotic" and anti-sovereign activity. We demand that the Investigative Police and the Anti-Corruption Police and the very National Executive itself, commit to the respective investigations and finish with these individuals.

We demand justice!

Jail for the corrupt and traitors of the working class!

Signed: Dignidad Obrera (Worker's Dignity)
