A Prelude to the Economic Coup?

As a simple citizen, I take the chance offered by some generous spaces for publishing my modest opinions. They try to reflect and express the feelings of many people. I've been portraying with my notes the concerns of the common Venezuelan men and women. These people are the ones  those high officers from the Venezuelan National Executive and the state maybe don't have the time to listen nor read; specially, to attend to their needs.

I walk on the streets of the capital of the Republic: Caracas, the queen of the Waraira Repano mountain. There's above all an issue I take as a grave signal. It's necessary to warn the authorities before regrettable situations might eventually arise.

I've been watching in the last weeks accross parrishes such as La Candelaria, on the Urdaneta Avenuew and close to the presidential Palace of Miraflores, the increase of lines on the public and some private ATMS. I assume this increase has something to do with the lack of cash in our country. 

This might activate several spots of protests close to the surroundings of public institutions such as the Ministries of Interior, Justice and Peace, Productive Agriculture and Lands, Economy and Finances, the Executive VicePresidency of the Republic and the Presidential Palace of Miraflores itself. A valid and legitimate demonstration, product from this unpleasant situation might be taken by the oppositionist sectors, framed within the conflict agenda aimed at overthrowing the current Bolivarian Government.

 I undoubtedly support the appointmets by the social economist Reinaldo Taimaris. He says 

that the lack of cash is generating serious difficulties to the population. In consequence, this sharpens the economic problem. It's no secret that both public and private banks keep a very orthodox embezzlement. They created a mechanism of control the cash flow. This situation obbeys to a currency policy seeking to alleviate the departure of the Venezuelan cash to other destinations: specifically, the case of Colombia.

As a dear comrade and expert in the productive issue in Venezuela, the economic problems in Venezuela are not an exclussive consequence of the sanctions. From the design of the economic model, the policies programs and projects of the latest years, we've been stumbling. When the oil prices were high, we didn't do the job. Since year 2003, the continuity of social programs began to drop: the State purchase to boost the small and middle public, communal and even private  businesses. The imports weakened the productive machinery and strengthened the corruption. The preferential dollars were given to "Suitcase companies" (under penal investigation) and incompetent people to run productive businesses instead of supporting and includying the workers in organized manner for the management of the latter,and hence creating new social production relations and developing productive forces. 

I also agree with Yajaira having seen that it has been really hard having designed an economic team in the last years to speak up front. A team, where President Maduro can rely on, in spite of having counted with excellent professionals. It's worth to wonder whether our current situation is made to foster chaos and to ease a new State. Only time will tell.

 Regarding the lack of cash, the Venezuelan Bolivar (VEF) became a virtual currency, as the good friend and comrade Carlos Colina Yánez, ex Parliamentary of our National Assembly, says. The same happens with the salaries and wages. The National Executive's financial aids, such as salary increases and bonuses, if the monetary voracity is not controlled by the very same State: Concrete and specific actions must be set.  Part of the solution might be determining the responsibles within the Venezuelan Government itself of the traffic and illicit enrichment at  at the expense of the misery of the Venezuelans, and sanctioning them with the full weight of our laws.

As Tamaris recalls, the cash traffic is totally speculative. A few profit by selling it with commissions: Usually very high. This business is both made for the sale and the purchase. If someone needs cash, he/she must pay up to 100% above the requested amount (for sale). On the other hand, those who buy cash in exchange of a commision make a banking transfer and set a meeting spot for the cash delivery. This is the most used strategy for the cash traffic off the Venezuelan borders. 

Tamaris reminds us the economic circuit used for the cash flow. The TV Host Mario Silva explained it once on his program "La Hojilla". I'll allow myself to quote him as follows: 

 "The issue above very simply described, is the product of a breackdown in the financial economic circuit. Three economic agents relate for these financial transactions. Through this model, the money follows a cycle when passing in hands of the three economic agents: The Government, the Businesses and families. Then, it returns to its original spot: The bank. The banks recycle or reuse the money in cash. In order to comply with this function, the cash must return to the bank through banking deposits. 

When the families receive their incomes, either on the sale of their working force or the social investment of the State, they perceive them through public or private banking transactions to their private accounts. Once the money is deposited, they go to the banks for requesting cash, and, hence, being able to pay for goods and/or services. Here is when the problem starts. Businesses, streetvendors, transport services and others who receive this cash don't meet this circuit. They don't deposit this cash. Yet, they keep it, and contribute with the illegal cash traffic. 

It would be derogatory to say these people are aware of this issue. All this might obbey to the economic and psywar agains the people. All this has generated  irrational responses, aimed at surviving from this bad situation. The need motivates the people to search for a solution to their problems. Then, individualism grows, and the consequences of their acts are not measured". 

I follow Tamaris' proposal. The Bolivarian Government must determine, through its correspondent institutions (SUDEBAN dixit), the drop percentage in  deposits of cash. Control mechanisms for natural and legal persons must be enforced too. This way, cash received for the payment of goods and services might rightfully return to the financial system. It's necessary to inform the people on these evil practices that benefit a few and harm the majority.

Trump Bans Transactions with Venezuelan Petros

03-19-18.- The U.S. President, Donald Trump, suscribed this Monday an executive decree that forbids "all transactions" with "any digital currency" issued by the Venezuelan Government, alluding to "The Petro", the Venezuelan cryptocurrency impelled by the state, appoint international news agencies.  

"The Executive Order forbids, from the date in force, every transaction related, the financing provision and other transactons by any person from or within the United States, with any digital currency issued by, for or on behalf the Government of Venezuela from January 09th, 2018", says the order announced by the White House. 

With the support of the crude reserves, the Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro launched the cryptocurrency last month aimed at widening Venezuela's capital drowned by the crisis and in order to avoid the financial sanctions imposed by United States. 

According to Trump, this decision was taken "in light of the recent measures adopted by Maduro's regime trying to avoid the sanctions", with the emission of a digital currency, in a process "the National Assembly democratically elected by Venezuela has denounced as illegal". 

With the support of the crude reserves, the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro launched the Venezuelan cryptocurrency in February 2018 aimed at widening the capital of the country, drowned by the crisis, and to avoid the financial sanctions imposed by U.S.A. 

U.S. Senators Bob Menéndez (Democrat), and Marco Rubio (Republican) warned Trump on the consequences of the Venezuelan cryptocurrency soon after Maduro's announcement. Both senators are highly active against the Venezuelan Government in the U.S. Congress.

Both Menéndez and Rubio are high officers of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. They sent a letter to the Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, in order to know the mechanisms the U.S. Government counts "to fight" the Venezuelan cryprocurrency. The result is the banning issued this Monday.

The Venezuelan President announced at the beginning of year 2018 the issue of 100 million "Petros" (The Venezuelan cryptocurrency). The Petro was introduced as "The Venezuelan Cryptocurrency". It equals the value of a Venezuelan oil barrel in the international market. President Maduro also announced "The activation and use of virtual exchange houses" for the use of the Petro.

Since Trump's arrival to the White House, the U.S. Government has sanctioned up to dozens of Chavistas leaders, among them the Venezuelan Head of State Nicolás Maduro himself and his Vice President, Tareck El Aissami.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code,

I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, in order to take additional steps with respect to the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13692 of March 8, 2015, and relied upon for additional steps taken in Executive Order 13808 of August 24, 2017, and in light of recent actions taken by the Maduro regime to attempt to circumvent U.S. sanctions by issuing a digital currency in a process that Venezuela’s democratically elected National Assembly has denounced as unlawful, hereby order as follows:

Section 1.  (a)  All transactions related to, provision of financing for, and other dealings in, by a United States person or within the United States, any digital currency, digital coin, or digital token, that was issued by, for, or on behalf of the Government of Venezuela on or after January 9, 2018, are prohibited as of the effective date of this order.

(b)  The prohibitions in subsection (a) of this section apply except to the extent provided by statutes, or in regulations, orders, directives, or licenses that may be issued pursuant to this order, and notwithstanding any contract entered into or any license or permit granted before the effective date of this order.

Sec. 2.  (a)  Any transaction that evades or avoids, has the purpose of evading or avoiding, causes a violation of, or attempts to violate any of the prohibitions set forth in this order is prohibited.

(b)  Any conspiracy formed to violate any of the prohibitions set forth in this order is prohibited.

Sec. 3.  For the purposes of this order:

(a)  the term “person” means an individual or entity;

(b)  the term “entity” means a partnership, association, trust, joint venture, corporation, group, subgroup, or other organization;

(c)  the term “United States person” means any United States citizen, permanent resident alien, entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States (including foreign branches of such entities), or any person within the United States; and

(d)  the term “Government of Venezuela” means the Government of Venezuela, any political subdivision, agency, or instrumentality thereof, including the Central Bank of Venezuela and Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PdVSA), and any person owned or controlled by, or acting for or on behalf of, the Government of Venezuela.

Sec. 4.  The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, is hereby authorized to take such actions, including promulgating rules and regulations, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA as may be necessary to implement this order.  The Secretary of the Treasury may, consistent with applicable law, redelegate any of these functions to other officers and executive departments and agencies of the United States Government.  All agencies of the United States Government shall take all appropriate measures within their authority to carry out the provisions of this order.

Sec. 5.  For those persons whose property and interests in property are affected by this order who might have a constitutional presence in the United States, I find that because of the ability to transfer funds or other assets instantaneously, prior notice to such persons of measures taken pursuant to this order would render those measures ineffectual.  I therefore determine that for these measures to be effective in addressing the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13692, there need be no prior notice given for implementation of this order.

Sec. 6.  This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

Sec. 7.  This order is effective at 12:15 p.m. eastern daylight time on March 19, 2018.

They’re lying to you, Nico

Perhaps you will have the chance to read this article, or perhaps someone will tell you about it, and if you don't end up hearing about it, I won't stop informing you - as I always do - even if it is unimportant to you, but it is of great value to the CAUSE.

At any rate, I'll still be around and telling stories, trying to understand, because some selfish positions can fit into a project as beautiful as the one we are building.

This type of piece isn't typical of me because of the confusing egotism that it can show; but I'm going to chance it with this anecdote, to try so you understand: there are things that are not okay and because I still feel, when I see you sermonizing, that you are and are going to be one of the greatest forces of this time, and that there is a lot that we could change, were it not for capitalism's rickety weapons, so well-positioned and influential that now, in the midst of the battle to organise, they don't let regular PEOPLE get near you.

I remember Nico, that we crossed paths many times before your very complex government work and there was always an acknowledgment of our attachment when meeting; but after becoming chancellor for this place, they're few, but the times they've happened, the obvious gratification on both parts has been reciprocal and I won't mention all of them, because it would devolve into pretension; because it would recall what we were and - we'd realize - what we are no longer.

Since you have a good memory, perhaps I can list some.

The most powerful one that I remember is when you sent for me - I believe - to play Pedro Camejo, "Negro Primero",  at the Pantheon; and I said, "I believe" because I had never gotten so many exhortations to attend a presidential event,  and they didn't even ask me for identification; they practically carried me to the spot where I would wait to go on-stage and when the presidential entourage arrived, I felt your searching gaze and I smiled at your distant wave - for this I say that I believe you sent for me, and that in that moment no one could refuse your orders. What I am sure about is that I felt that the affection was mutual.

At the close of the performance you broke protocol, the bodyguards got worried (you know my phenotype is a little excessive for bourgeois manners), I fondly remember the noticeable warmth.

Another moment of gratification - in spite of the sorrow - was at the memorial service for the Commander. You went out to soothe the people in their grief, which blanketed the surroundings of the Military Academy; I was doing the same and we ran into each other on an improvised stage where someone - without caring what we felt - said out loud so that you would hear, that his attendance in that space (or something similar) was because all he wanted was to get his house. When you turned to respond, you were faced with my own interjection and, by chance, we felt our kinship.

And so as not to be too outdated, as a president: in the home of the National System of Orchestras - in deep bankruptcy - I remember asking you for a hug and all of the attendees of the event were cultural figures; they were amazed, and they silently admired our connection, as though to say "Look at the black guy, he's friends with the president."

And so on, at the Catia Theatre, I was reciting poetry - from pure mojo - and you joined us playing instruments, and it was all warmth. At the Diego Ibarra Square, me, a poet and you, my friend; and so I felt your power embrace me. I mention all of this so that you know how close I was to you and never had anything to demand, even knowing that I could have done so.

At that point, already I knew that someone wanted to keep me away from you; I never said anything. I thought that one day you would ask what was going on with me, that all of the arrivistes were around and that the only one missing was me.

Someone is making sure that we are not as I have described; I have told you this and they kept me away from you, and with a lot of deceptive practices, they manage it; and I, despite knowing it - and who - have never mentioned this unpleasant situation to you, although I believe that one day I will; even if it is when there is no longer an ability to fulfill our promise and begin to do what up to this point we haven't been able to. What I regret most is, in this moment, not to be able to be at your side and show you that someone is lying to you and because of this, I can't help you on this path of adversity.

But if we run into each other, it's possible that we try a path with results different from those we're getting, because MOTHERLAND OR DEATH, WE WILL WIN AND EVER ONWARD TO VICTORY!

I DON'T WANT TO LIVE WITHOUT A MOTHERLAND!

15 de março de 2018 - Dezenas de milhares de pessoas inundado as ruas do Rio de Janeiro ESTA quinta-feira para repudiar o assassinato de Marielle Franco, Rio conselheiro e ativista dos direitos humanos bem conhecida fortemente que tinha denunciado a intervenção militar em sua cidade.

"Algo sobre cada um de nós morreu com o assassinato ESTA. Ela era a voz de muitas pessoas invisíveis. Ela deu voz aos que não tinham voz," o voluntário da ONG Rio de Paz, Alex Possati, disse Sputnik.

Nos degraus da Assembléia Legislativa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Possati foi um dos milhares de cariocas que gritavam pela justiça por este crime.

Franco, 38 anos e conselheiro para o socialismo de esquerda e do Partido da Liberdade (PSOL), tornou-se um símbolo da luta das mulheres, negros, moradores de favelas e favelas (bairros lotado) ea população LGTBI.

Seu trabalho foi especialmente o destaque: por ter criticado os abusos cometidos pela Polícia Militar e as denúncias contra a recente intervenção militar no Rio de Janeiro.

Franco foi morto com cinco tiros na cabeça quando estava viajando em um veículo de um evento político no centro da cidade.

O motorista do carro, Anderson Pedro Gomes, também morreu imediatamente.

"É claro que executou Eles tê-la Eles pensavam que iria matá-la matando voz Marielle, mas seus pensamentos estão aqui,:. Eles estão mais vivos do que nunca", Malcon Ozório Said, um jovem vizinho de uma favela Para quem o conselheiro foi "uma brava negra que ousei dizer o que muitas pessoas ficaram caladas".

No início da marcha, seus colegas do PSOL, visivelmente movidos, prometeu lutar por manter seu legado vivo e fazer justiça. Eles descreveram seu assassinato como um "ataque terrorista" e "Um assassinato político".

Além de Marielle cita em memória de Franco e Anderson Pedro Gomes, os manifestantes gritavam palavras de ordem contra a Polícia Militar e a intervenção federal no Estado, que colocou as Forças Armadas no controlo da segurança pública no Rio de Janeiro.

O maior do Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella, decretou três dias de luto oficial.

Mas essa cidade não é a única que demonstrou contra a morte de Franco; Houve marchas nas principais cidades do país, e espera-se que as mobilizações continuem nos próximos dias.

Solidariedade na Venezuela

Na República Bolivariana da Venezuela, movimentos feministas como Africano Descendente Cimarronas da Esperança, o Social movements such as Marea Socialista, o Governo Bolivariano e seu povo condenou o assassinato do líder socialista.

"Marielle é e ela vai continuar a ser uma voz militante em favor do direito dos excluídos, e a repressão ea violência contra o povo brasileiro estão sendo vítimas (...) Nas palavras do nosso mais alto chantor Ali Primera, nós diga: aqueles que morrem pela vida não podem ser chamados de morte Marielle Franco, Presente! ", afirma a declaração oficial do governo bolivariano.

March 15, 2018 - Tens of thousands of people overflooded the streets of Rio de Janeiro this Thursday to repudiate the assassination of Marielle Franco, Rio councilor and well-known human rights activist who had strongly denounced the military intervention in her city.

"Something about each one of us died with this murder. She was the voice of many invisible people. She gave voice to those who had no voice," the volunteer of the NGO Rio de Paz, Alex Possati, told Sputnik.

On the steps of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Possati was one of the thousands of Cariocas who were shouting for justice for this crime.

Franco, 38 years old and councilor for the leftist Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL), became a symbol of the struggle of women, blacks, inhabitants of slums and favelas (crowded neighborhoods) and the LGTBI population.

Her work was especially in the spotlight: For having criticized the abuses committed by the Military Police and the denunciations against the recent military intervention in Rio de Janeiro.

Franco was killed with five shots to the head when she was traveling on a vehicle from a political event in the center of the city.

The driver of the car, Anderson Pedro Gomes, also died immediately.

"It is clear that they have executed her. They thought that killing Marielle would kill her voice, but her ideas are here,: They are more alive than ever," Malcon Ozorio said, a young neighbor from a favela for whom the councilor was "a brave black woman who I dared to say what many people kept quiet. "

At the start of the march, her PSOL colleagues, visibly moved, promised to fight for keeping her legacy alive and to make justice. They described her assassination as a "Terrorist attack" and "A political murder".

In addition to quotes in memory of Marielle Franco and Anderson Pedro Gomes, the protesters chanted slogans against the Military Police and the federal intervention in the state, that put the Armed Forces in the control of the public safety in Rio de Janeiro.

The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella, decreed three days of official mourning.

But this city is not the only one that demonstrated against the death of Franco; There were marches in the main cities of the country, and mobilizations are expected to continue in the coming days.

Solidarity in Venezuela

In the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Social movements such as Feminist African Descendant Group Cimarronas de la Esperanza and Marea Socialist, as well as the Bolivarian Government  and its people condemned the assassination of the socialist leader.

"Marielle is and she will continue to be a militant voice in favor of the right of the ones excluded, and against the repression and violence the Brazilian people are being victims (...) In the words of our highest chantor Alí Primera, we say: Those who die for life cannot be called death. Marielle Franco, Present!", the official statement by the Bolivarian Government says.

March 13th, 2018.- 27 yr-old Altuve, selected as the Most Valuable Player of the American League in the last campaign, did not show any enthusiasm before Donald Trump's speech. The athlete could not hide the awkard moment at the end of the official ceremony. 

This Monday, the Houston Astros, current World Series Champions of the MLB, made an official visit to the White House. The tension between the Venezuelan athlete José Altuve and the U.S. President Donald Trump was the main feature of the encounter.

27-yr Old Altuve was elected the Most Valuable Player of the American League in the last campaign. He never showed any enthusiasm during Trump's address, and he didn't hide any empathy at the end of the official act, at the East Wing of the White House. 

The Current MLB Champions made an official visit to the White House

The current MLB Chambions made an official visit to Donald Trump. Trump turn to shake hands with several players, such Josh Reddick y George Spinger, both close to Altuve. Altuve kept his hands in his pockets when he saw the U.S. President approaching to greet the players. 

This episode occured once the U.S. President congratulated the "Astonishing" Altuve, in Trump's own words. Donald Trump made jokes on the Venezuelan athlete height (5.5 ft/ 1.68 mts). "Altuve is much taller than I thought!", the U.S. head of state said among laughter.

In spite of having showed a serious attitude, the Venezuelan Second Base decided to attend to the official event. His Puertorrican teammates, Carlos Correa and Carlos Beltrán, declined the invitation.

"They never said  anything on the possibility of not attending to the reception, which is an honor. Yet, every player is free to do what they want", Altuve said in declarations to the media. Josh Reddick was the player responsible of giving Trump the Astros T-shirt with the number 17. 

Trump praised the Astros for their contributions amidst the hurricane tragedy

Beltrán, the other athlete absent to the official visit, acknowledged his unrest with the U.S. Federal Government the management to the moment for the recovery of Puerto Rico after the devastation of the hurricane María last September 2017. "There's no doubt I'm dissapointed, and I'm not the only one", said Beltrán last February after having announced his absence to the White House's visit as a protest signal.
